Considered one of the major specialists in Medieval Plucked String Instruments, Jos\u00e9 Luis Pastor is Superior Professor of Classic Guitar from the Superior Music Conservatory \u201cManuel Castillo\u201d, in Seville, Spain. He was awarded with the \u2018End Degree Prix\u2019 in lute and vihuela, for his musical and academic achievements.\n\nInterested in Ancient and Medieval Music, he has undertaken studies in Spain, France and Italy with high-qualified professors such as Kees Boeke, Jill Feldman, Hopkinson Smith, Patricia Bovi, Andrea Dami\u00e1ni, Marcos Volonterio, Francisco Orozco, Juan Carlos Rivera, M\u00aa Carmen G\u00f3mez Muntan\u00e9, etc.<\/p>

He has participated as a string performer in Medieval Music festivals all over the Spanish geography (Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Gij\u00f3n, Catalu\u00f1a (\u201cMusica als Castells\u201d) Granada, Toledo, Alarcos (Ciudad Real), San Sebasti\u00e1n, Huelva, Murcia, C\u00f3rdoba, Huesca, \u00dabeda y Baeza, Aracena, etc.), United Kingdom (London), Bosnia-Hertzegovina (Winter Festival of Sarajevo), Francia (Par\u00eds e Istres -Marsella-), Italia (Florence, Lombard\u00eda, Cremona, M\u00e1ntova, Crema -\u201cIl canto delle pietre\u201d-), Portugal (Islas A\u00e7ores, Lisboa, Lagos, Portimao, Faro, Tavira, Albufeira, etc.), Argentina (Buenos Aires, San Miguel and Rosario), and Marruecos (T\u00e1nger y Casablanca).<\/p>

At present, he is carrying out an intense investigation of medieval string instruments and is the owner of six such specimens (spanish lute from the XIII century, italian lute from the XIV-XV century, c\u00edtole, guiterne (medieval guitar), plectrum\u2019s vihuela and fret\u2019s hurdy gurdy). He has developed programmes and radio-recordings for RNE, he offers illustrated concert-conferences: \u201cMoreno-Torroba\u201d and \u201cArturo Soria\u201d conservatories (Madrid), Manuel de Falla (Buenos Aires) Pro-M\u00fasica (Rosario) and Alberto Ginastera (Mor\u00f3n) conservatories (Argentina), Medieval Music Festival of Aracena (Huelva), Beja conservatory -Portugal-, Meeting of the Spanish Society of Vihuela (C\u00f3rdoba), and he has published articles in journals, such as the specialized journal Orphenica Lyra, from the Spanish Society of Vihuela, of which he is a founder member.<\/p>

He has participated in nine different recordings and at present he leads the music group Axabeba. He has combined his concerts with teaching activity in the musical teaching centre \u201cAula Ian Murray\u201d (Aracena \u2013 Huelva \u2013 Espa\u00f1a), \u201cManuel Castillo\u201d Superior conservatory and \u201cCrist\u00f3bal de Morales\u201d Professional conservatory (Sevilla). He is currently the manager (Director) of the \u201cManuel Rojas\u201d conservatory from Nerva (Huelva), in which he holds a stable position as a Guitar Professor. From 2014, he is Artistic Director of the Early Music Festival \u201cCastillo de Aracena).<\/p>
